MAA Head Coaches and Sponsors!
This section of MAA online
is to help provide you with the common questions
our coaches and sponsors have each year
and is a source for the most current rules
and policies of our programs, Babe Ruth
and POP Warner. The position you have elected
to help with is very important to the children
you will work with, their parents and MAA.
Please review this information and feel
free to contact your directors with any
additional questions. Welcome to MAA and
thank you for your involvement.
e-Play
e-Play is MAA's Internet based
association management platform.
e-Play is web based so your respective
Division Directors, Registration Director
and Sport/Division Director can access and
use it as needed to organize and manage
all aspects of registering players, managing
teams and coaches, and to provide you with
the information you need to assemble and
organize your teams in a timely manner.
All registration information is now being
collected and stored in e-play and will
be provided to you prior to the drafts.
As the season begins to take
shape in mid January, the respective division
directors will be provided with a "Single
Page (PAPER Registration) Form " for
each child. This Single Page document will
be printed for each individual player from
the e-play database and has all the information
you are accustomed to seeing and using in
the drafts. This document has been design
to provide you with only the information
you need to help you identify and select
players, contact parents and participate
in the draft process. This Player Information
page will also be helpful to your team's
Mom.

Background Checks and Badges:
Anyone who has coached or helped
a coach already knows that a lot has to
happen in a short period of time in order
to get each season up and running. Background
Checks are a very important part
of getting ready for the season. This year
MAA has established a very clear policy
on background checks and your badges for
the teams head coach. It is as follows:
1. All Coaches and anyone who
is entering the field area or dugout, MUST
have a current background check and be "Wearing
their Badge" (not in their pocket).
Regardless of City policy, MAA Policy is
that you wear your badge in plain sight
so that it may be seen by Umpires, directors
and parents.
2. As the head coach, you are
responsible for working with the director
and other officials to see that you and
your assistant coaches have their badges
and are wearing them accordingly "Any"
time you and your staff are on the field
or in the dugout.
3. At least one coach on your
team must be wearing a badge in order for
your team to play in a scheduled game. Coaches
who are not wearing a badge are not permitted
in the dugout or on the field.
Any exceptions to these policies
on background checks and proper wearing
of badges must be approved by the Baseball
or Softball Director.
Coaching Leadership & Responsibilities
Beginning of Season:
At the start of each season,
you will receive a call from the Baseball
Director to cover some basic points. You
will also be expected to attend a mandatory
coaches meeting where the Baseball and Softball
Directors will explain the various rules
pertaining to field and equipment use, access
to this equipment and many other aspects
and responsibilities that you will need
to know and understand going into the season.
Even though you may have coached previously,
MAA is growing and changing each season,
new field equipment is being purchased,
modifications to previous policies and new
rules and procedures are regularly being
implemented. This meeting is where these
and other points will all be covered in
detail.
During the Season:
Feel free to contact the Baseball
or Softball Director for clarification at
any time. All operational issues, rules,
and policy decisions will be handled and
overseen by the Baseball and Softball Director.
Also, remember at all times
that you are the coach of a little league
team of children who's primary interest
is to play a game that they enjoy and are
willing to invest a considerable amount
of their time in. Your first responsibility
is to make every effort to help your players
have fun, enjoy the game and the spirit
of competition. Your second responsibility
to these children is to professionally teach
them "Fundamental Skills". Your instruction
should be designed to help them become better
plays. And your third responsibility is
to always, always, always conduct yourself
as professionally as possible. Remember
that while you are on the field as the coach,
you set the tone, so keep it very positive
at all times. Also remember to use the authority
of the Umpires and the Baseball and Softball
Directors to help you solve any issues that
may arise.
End of Season:
You will of course close your
season with your team probably with some
form of a gathering or party. You primary
official responsibility at the end of the
season pertains to returning your gear to
the Equipment Director. Equipment Returns
for ALL Baseball and Softball Teams
will be coordinated and communicated to
you by the Equipment Director at the end
of each season. Coaches who plan
to coach in the coming Spring or Fall season
are not exempt. You may not simply keep
your teams equipment till the next season.
You must turn in all of your teams equipment
so that it can be inventoried, repaired
and or replaced in order to keep all or
equipment safe and in good working order.
If you are coaching in the coming season
you may check your teams equipment in and
then right back out for convenience, however
we must account for the equipment and visually
inspect it. Please do not call the equipment
director with a "Verbal Inventory" of the
bag.
